This is a painting project stretching from July, 2010 to July, 2012, tracing the Columbia River in a series of paintings, from the estuary to the headwaters.
The story of the Columbia River is a story worth telling: a story of the history of one of the great rivers, the settlement of the west and the profound changes on our landscape.
My story begins with Lewis and Clark and continues through to today.
I'm an oil painter on Samish Island, Washington.
I'm drawn to the landscape of the intermountain west. I love the light, the water, the fields of wheat, the big skies and the ribbons of road cutting through the land.
